HOMING PIGEON SOCIETY.
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Wellington Homing Pigeon Society was held in the Y.M.C.A. last evening, when Mr. M. G. Grenside presided over a well-attended meeting. ■ The annual report, as submitted by the secretary (Mr. Clark), stated that_ tho financial position of the society is very strong, the credit; balance being .£lB 13s. 9d., while assets exceed liabilities by <£53. The membership during tho past season was the largest since the inception of thesociety. The committee'regret tho breaking up of several lofts owing to retirements from the society, and especially that of Mr. W. Bailey, the society's oldest member. The Maritime champion trophy was won by Mi'. A. Clark. The Young Bird Cup "was won by Mr. R. Powell. Mr. W. Bailey secured a "leg-in" for the five guinea trophy. The report and balance-sheet \tere adopted as read. The following officers wero elected for the ensuing year:—Patron, Mr. A. H. Turnbull; president Mr. M. G. Grenside; hou. secretary, Mr. A. Clark; hon. treasurer, Mr. C. Ilaynes; hon. auditor, Mr. A. C. Croskery (all re-elected). Thirteen vice-presidents were ako elected.
