Payment* were authorised as follow:—Accounts; interest and wages, £23,177 3s. 4d.; progress payments on contracts, .£7462 Ha,, ad.; salaries for July, £755 13s. Id. - The chairman reported:— ' • That the tender of Messrs. J. W. Wallaoe and Co. for the sum of £3836 12s. Id; had been accepted for supply 'of., hardwoods with Messrs. George Winder and Frederick William Howe, as sureties; ; That after consultation with ropresca-; tativos of employees tho tender, of Messrs. James Smith, Limited, had been.accepted,. "for uniforms for the twelve months end- • ing June 30, 19J1, and the tender ofMessrs.. Charles Hill and Sonß had. been., accepted for uniform caps for the..same; period. . i ' . Tho engineer was authorised to call traders for asphalting tho floor of ."J*shed. ....

The engineer reported that the chief engineer of. Government railways had written stating that the Railway Department agreed te contribute towards the cost of construction of extension of Waterloo Quay culvert beyond the junc tiou at ; Davis Street.

The Board, iu committee, resolved:— That a sum of £50 be deducted from th» final payment to Messrs. J. M'Lenn and Sons, on contract 124, Clyde Quay Wharf, for non-completion of work on duo data.
