STATEMENT IN HOUSE OF LORDS. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Rec. July 27, 10.15 p.m.) London, July 27. Lord Beauchamp, speaking in the House of Lords on behalf of Lord Crewe, Secretary for the Colonies, in reply to Lard Ampthill, regarding tho deportation of Indians from the Transvaal, said every opportunity was afforded the Indians to prove domicile in, South Africa. Many of them absolutely refused to give any information on the point. Lord Beauchamp added that the Government had been continuously seeking for the solution of a' grave situation, and had brought'ail allegations of ill-treatment under the Transvaal Government's notice. Thfe Union Government was carefully considering the question of its policy regarding Indians lawfully; resident, but it was unable to agreo to unrestricted immigration.
