JUSTICE DEPARTMENT INQUIRY.
Tho official inquiry into a complaint as to an alleged alteration in the police records at Christchurch has not yet concluded. Questioned on the matter by a Dominion representative yesterday, the Hon. Dr. Findlay (Minister for. Justice) said "that the illness of Police-Inspector Gillies had delayed any decision in the matter, and a further, difficulty was that there was some corflict of testimony between certain officers involved. As the Commissioner of Policp (Mr. Waldegrave) had to proceed to Christ-church shortly on Departmental business, he proposed "to - ai:k him to make a personal investigation into tho matters in question.
