THAT "ANNOYING" LETTER.
MR, CHARLES WILSON AND PROFESSOR KIEK. In connection with the remarks which were passed by Sir. Charles 'Wilson, at the College Council meeting on Wednesday night, wherein lie adversely criticised the professors, the following is the letter from the Professorial Board of the collego to the council, that ■ led to the criticism from Mr. Wilson:— At its last meeting,, the Professorial Board decided to suggest that a separate library account should be kept, showing the allocation in each year, the amount spoilt on each scction of the library, and tho balance on either side in 'each section, the balance being carried forward to thn next year. It was decided to suggest, also, in this connection, that details of the expenditure on, each-scction should be in the hands of the librarian, in order that each member of th«~ staff may ascertain readily how ■ his account stands. With regard to periodicals the following resolution was carried:— That the irregularity with which periodicals have been received shows that the council's agent in London does not pay proper attention to the matter. It is suggested that the supplying of periodicals should bo left m the hands of sonw recognised agent for' periodicals, say Nutt and Co., Williams and Norgate,. Muller, or Bowes and Bowes (of Cambridge). In this connection I am to point out that notable examples of the irregularity referred to arc given in letters from threu members of the stair, which letters are now in tho council's hands, and other examples could be given. Tours, etc., (Signed) H. B. Kirk, Chairman of tho Professorial Board.
