q THE ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF. SCHEME FOR REORGANISATION. Full details of the suggested scheme for the reorganisation of the Wellington Hospital and Charitable Aid Board's administrative staff were laid on the table at the board's meeting yesterday, when there ivere present:—The chairman (Mr. J. G. W. Aitken), Miss Richmond) and Messrs. J. Trevor. B. R. Gardner, W. Tompsitt, R. C. Kirk, G. Lundon, J. E. Fitzgerald, J. J. Devine, F. T. Moore, J. W. M'Ewan, I>. Robertson, H. Baldwin, and the Revs. W. A. Evans and H. Van Staveren. Secretary, chief executive officer, diroctly responsible to the board for (a) the successful carrying out of the duties of all the other oliicers of the board (excepting those carried out under the jurisdiction of the medical superintendent); (b) the conduct and keeping minutes of all meeting of tho board, committee, and sub-committee (excepting such committees and sub-committees as in respect oi which tho chairman may approve of his delegating such duty to some other officer); (c) all the correspondence of the board, subject to the superintendence of; the chairman of the board and chairman of the committees; (d) and the general finances of the board, the compiling of tstimates, apportionment, subsidies, statistics and annual returns for the department.—Mr. George Willis. Accountant, the secretary's first assistant (a) to be responsible to the secretary for the keeping of the books of the board, the supervision and control of the collection of patients' fees, old age pensions, or other payments on behalf of patients of any of the institution; (b) to . act as secretary in that officers' absence. -Mr- J. Coyle; salary, ,£275. Wellington Hospital house steward, rebponsible to the secretary for (a) the carrying out of the internal management or the Wellington Hospital, in accordance with the requirements of the medical superintendent; (b) the keeping of fctore books and ledgers, the admitting aim discharging of patients and the ceruiymg to of all accounts for supplies; (c) all payments received on account of patients at' time of admission or discharge.—Hr. L. E. Fox; salary .£225, with free house-and fuel. Superintendent of charitable aid and master Ohiro Home, to bo master of the Ohiro .Home and to act as superintendent of charitable aid, his wife to be matron, of the Ohiro Home.—Mr. and Mrs. A. 11. Truebridge; salary ,£250, with free hoard and residence. Lady inspector, to inspect and report on all applicants for relief.—Miss A. Kirk; salary, .6125. Clerk and collector, to collect fees on account of patients of Wellington Hospital and Otaki institutions, conduct the out-patients' department of the Wellington Hospital, and do any such clerical work as the secretary may direct.—To be appointed; salary, .£l5O. Clerk at hospital (,£1 ss. per week).— Mr. T. C. Rouse. Storekeeper to charitable aid and caretaker („EISG ner annum, with free Quarters}.—Mr. J. Elton. With regard to the appointment of a typist at ,£BO per annum, the comraitteb had no recommendation to make. The foregoing, after being considered by the board in committee, was adopted without alteration. Tenders Accepted. The following tenders for supplies were accepted;— Meat, Messrs. Barber and Co.; groceries, Town and Country Supply Stores; tea, Town and Country Supply Stores; di'apery, Messrs. Gcqrge and George; boots, and shoes, Messrs." Edward Pearce and Co., Ltd.; wines and spirits, Messrs. A. D. Kennedy and Co.; funerals, Messrs. R. H. Wilson.and Son. Tenders for coal were referred to a sub-committee, with power to act. It was resolved to invito fresh tenders for fish. Other Matters. A statement of receipts and expenditure for the year ended March 31 was also tabled. This disclosed a total expen.£20,323 Os. Id., and receipts aggregating <£2-i,2jo 14s. od. There was, therefore, a balance to credit, on March 31, of ,£3931 Ms. 4d. In the Wellington Infectious Diseases Hospital account, the excess v of expenditure (J32300) ever receipts (.£300), was set down at .£2OOO, while the income Committee of the Browii-M'William Memorial Fund disclosed a credit balance of ,£SB Bs. Gd.The nctt credit balance was set down at .£2020 2s. lfid. There was an audit tag: "Examined and found correct,- except that the General Fund to the amount of .£2OOO lias unlawfully been used for the purposes of the Infectious Diseases Hospital. Tho assets were shown at ,£16,575 4s 3d., and the liabilities at £11,921 ss. Id. Accounts amounting to ,54195 2 S . were passed for .payment. Tho Hospital Committee was authorised to purchase fruit trees up to ,£72 worth, for tho Otaki Hospital and Sanatorium. In connection with the board's property in Ghuznee Street, the Finance Committee s recommendation that tho Icr'se to Messrs. Nees and Son be signed and sealed was approved. The Hospital Committee recommended that the medical superintendent be empowered to purchase necessary opthalmic instruments. That specifications be made out for building a brick stack, to replace the iron chimneys at the main Hospital. That a detailed report be made of the condition of the roof of the Hospital building. That in view of the -Medical Superintendent's strong recommendation, the House Steward be instructed to .put in hand tho work of cleaning out the inside of the out patients' building.
