FIGHT FILMS.
NORSEWOOD MINISTERS' PROTEST. A special meeting of the Ministers' Association of Norsewood district was. held on Saturday ' afternoon. Tho Revs. Messrs. Richards, Cookerill, M'Caw, anA Pastor Legarth attended. After full discussion, 'the following resolution was prftposed by the Rev.,(M. Cockorill. seconded by. the Rev. J. Richards, and carried unanimously"That this association of ministers of the Wesleyan, Anglican, Presbyterian, and. Lutheran churches respectively of the district, having an earnest couviction that / the practice of prize-fighting is, in its tendency and effects, brnlalising, immora.l, and unchristian, unites with other similar bodies in pressing upon the Government the advisability of discouraging' such practice by ,prohibiting the public exhibition,' by kinomatograph or otherwise,' of pictures illustrating suchjights. Furthermore, in Mis case of pictures illustrating the Jeffries-Johnson fight, • this association .records its' conviction that there is- added; to the general ill-effects the intensification of racial feud and hatred." It was further resolved that a copy "of the above resolution bo forwarded to the member of._ the district for transmission to the Prime Minister.
CHRISTCHURCH PROTESTS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) .. Christchurch. July 18. Protests- against the exhibition of fight pictures were received by the City Council at its meeting to-night. It was decided to. refer the matter to the By-laws Committee and the city solicitor.
