OUTBREAK IN DANIEL STREET. Tcsterday morning tho fira brigade were summoned to an outbreak at a fiveroomed house o.t 145 Daniel Street, owned by Mr. H. Osborne, and occupied byJMr. Ernest L. Holland: The fire • originated through some clothes becoming ignited from a spark from the copper fire. Tho kitchen and scullery were charred by the flames, and smoke and heat damaged tho remaining portion of. the house. The building was insured in tho Commercial Union Office for .£2OO, and there was a policy on tho contents in the United Office for <£150. ' ■ i
A CALL TO NEWTOWN.
Shortly,, after one o'clock yesterday afternoon, the'brigade were called to a fire in a five-roomed house. at Green Street, Newtown, occupied by Mr. Joseph Wnieham. Tho outbreak was caused throngh a defective chimncy, and apart from damage to the washhouse, tho fire was suppressed without further loss. The dwelling was insured in tho Now Zealand Office for i! 300, and the contents wero covered in tho North British. Office for .£SO.
AT CHARLTON AVENUE. Tho brigade received a third call at 3.4 p.m. to a three-roomed tenement' in Charlton Avenue, off Tory Street, occupied by Mrs. Farroll. It appears that tiro liro was caused through a child playing with some matches, which ignited somo bedclothes. The firo was soon noticed, and the child—the only occupant of tho house at tho time—was rescued and removed to tho hospital, .- suffering from burns about tho logs. The flames wore quickly suppressed, and the damage was trifling. The house, which was owned by Mr. A. Batchclor, was insured in the State Offico for JCISO. Tho, con tents were -uninsured.. •
