SOME , INTERESTING STATISTICS. (By Telegraph.—l'ress Association.) Christchurch, July 18.. During the past fifteen days, from July i to July IS, the mortality in North Canterbury lias been virtually confined to persons of mature years. Notices of deaths given in the daily newspapers show that 41 persons, 'of whom only three were infants, died, and in eases of three women and a similar number of •men, all of whom were adults, no ages were given. In 35 instances the of the dtceased person was given. 01. the males one was a child of 13 months, and the average age of the remaining 17 men was slightly under GG years. Twelve of tliem were over 60 years of age at the tin)© of death, and of the dozen nine had exceeded the span of life, their ages being 85, S5, S4, SO, 7G, 76, 75, 74, and 71. The women had been almost' as long lived. Two female children had died, and the ages of the 15 women aggregated 539, an average of'barely 5G years. Only nine of them had' exceeded GO- years, but of that number six had lived more than the allotted three score years and ten, their ages being i>9, S2, 77, 73, 73, ami 72.
