CANADIAN HOMESTEADS. Some time ago the Canadian Government decided that free homesteads would be granted to those who were domiciled in Canada previous to the 'South African war and served during that war.. Since the conclusion of tho war, : Canadians have drifted all over the world, and some are • supposed to liavo settled in Kew Zealand. _ Tho Canadian Government is now calling homo the sons of the great Dominion of tho north. Writing to a lriend in Wellington, Dr. A. J3. Ross, of Kingston, Canada, who is ' interesting himself in this matter, states that those who served in .Canadian Regiments during the war are required merely to forward to him written applications, together with discharges. Those who joined ahy irregular regiments other than Canadian would require to send particulars of residence, if born in. Canada, date and place of birth, and names oi persons who could testify to residence in that Dominion. Veterans Who served in Imperial irregulars aro not, eligible. It is imr portant to note that all applications must be sent in this- year. Applicants are requested to apply for "a grant of laud under the. Volunteers' Bounty Act' of 1908," stating regiment and date of service, and make a declaration before a Justice uf the i'eace. Discharges will be duly returned to their owners after | examination.

There were Canadians in nearly all the irregular regiments during the war, men who went out ill supply boats, horse ami mu'lu boats, and enlisted on arrival.
