Hill has resigned the secretaryship of the Druids' Lodge, and is being succeeded by Bro. A. E. Patterson. Miss M'Gregor gave an address hero on Pandita Ramabai's mission,, on Tuesday night. A combined team from the clubs forming the Qroua Rugby Sub-union is to pky the Feilding Football Club hero next Saturday. A good game i« expected, and the gnto proceeds to go to the subunion's fund.

1 Owing to the persistent rain all the Kahautnra country is under water and tho settlers are having a very exciting timo with their stock. The latter havo been all driven to tho highest points, and as the rain is still coming down very heavily, it is probable that losses of stock will have to bo recorded. All the rivers and creeks in the 'district are in a stato of flood, and many of the roads are well nigh .impassable. Owing to their having been lately metalled and tho traffic carcfully keeping off the metal and taking the side of the road, these sides havo now been converted into voritablo quagmires.

CARTERTON.

Routino business was transacted at the h-.st meeting of the ltecliabitc Lodge, Bro. T., W. Foster, D.R., presiding. It was decided that the present arrangement witli t.hoi lessee of the hall bo torminated at the end of next month. Two friends were proposed for membership. Tho South Wairnrapa Poultry Association, whose annual show takes place next wcclc, havo received entries somewhat in excess of last year. They constitute the best record of tho society so far. The local brass band, interest in which has been dead for somo time, was re-, juvenated this week, whe'n some twentyfive inombers were enrolled. It was decided to hold tho first practice on Monday, evening next. The , local United Friendly Societies' card tourney game between tho Oddfellows and Druids, ended in a draw, cach side winning 30 games. Tho Hineinoa Ladies' Hockey Club held their annual "social" and dnnco in St. Mark's Schoolroom on Tuesday ovening, and, although tho weather was anything but pleasant, there was a very fail' attendance. A very enjoyable time .was spent, and tho ladies aro to bo com-, plimented upon a well-managed function, especially the secretary, Miss S. Whyte. Mr. Geo. B. Allen, of "Tipua," Taratnhi, has received an order for four ot his stud Itomiiey-Marsh sheep, to be forwarded to a farmer in tho South of Spain. The consignment will consist of two rams and two ewes, and will be dispatched next, mont'n. A gold medal has been presented to tho local hockey club by Mr. K. J. Gayfer. It is to bo awarded to the most consistent player, in the senior team this season. Tho danco held recently in aid of an Injured footballer, resulted in a profit of ,£7 7s. Considering that there was a couiiter-uttraction not far away the same evoning, the result is very satisfactory. An excellent septic tank sewerage service has been installed at tho Clarevillo School, at a cost of between .£1)1) and JG7O. Mr. W. Fisher is tho delegate from tho I'aralahi and Belvedere dairy factories to tho confercnco of the North Island Dairy Association at Huwera. A P. G. Lodge, under the auspices of the Order of Oddfellows, is to bo launched in the Wairnrapa. Tho South Wairarapa Poultry Association has decided to hold a srnoko concert on Wednesday evening inixt, the first day of their annual show. -Mr. R. (). Jarrott, of' Masterton, has been appointed judge of tho utility class oil tho Walter Hogan system. Bro. I'l. JLartin, treasurer of Totara Lodge, U.A.0.D., has resigned tho position on account of his intended departure from tho district. Bio. W. ll.' Bailie has been elected to fill the vacancy. Tho lodge has decided to plia-B Bro. Martin's name upon the merit board.
