RAILWAY PASSENGER'S DEATH. (By Tc-lccrrarih—Press Association.! Auckland, July 13. The-dead hody of an elderly man, Matthew Wallace, was found between the double set of rails near Ellerslie. He had evidently not been, run over, but . the injuries to his head indicated the probability that he had fallen from a carriage. THREE MINERS INJURED. Westport, July 14. Goldsmith, a young man aged 18, a horse driver in the Millerton Mine, had a thigh fractured and crashed against a jig wheel. Henry Potts, a miner,, had three ribs broken'by a fall in the Denniston Mine. Michael M'Tigue was badly crushed between a tub of coal and tho roof of a drivo while riding on top of tho tub in the Denniston Mine. ARRESTED, TAKEN ILL, AND DIED. Napier, July "14. An elderly man, named Alexander Maddison was arrested on Monday evening for drunkenness and, in consequence of his taking ill during the night had to bo removed to the hospital where he died this afternoon. A post mortem examination will be mado to-morrow. Nothing is known of deceased here.
