AGRICULTURAL INSTRUCTION.
IN/NEW SOUTH .WALES.
The Minister for' Agriculture (says a Now South/Wales : paper) has "determined to initiate a schomevof .giving courses of lectures,. from three to six, on subjects, of interest, for ,'the benefit of farmers' sons and other persons who may: desire such, instruction. Ho proposes to utilise the services of the experts and held staff of the Department'in arranging for these courses of lectures, some of them perhaps on one subject by one man, and others combining several subjects to be dealt with by different experts. It is thought thatj the subjects in most demand will be the principles of agriculture, dairying, sheep and wool, potato-growing and potato diseases, veterinary scienco with demonstrations, fruit-growing, and poultry-farming. It is not possible to make any definite arrangements till applications shall have been received and dealt with, so that a suitable itinerary may be. arranged to fit .in with tho other duties of tho experts who will be engaged on this work. The Minister, therefore, invites, in the first place, applications from groups of students who would like to avail themselves of this privilege, and specially asks the committees of agricultural societies, the local branches of the Farmers' and Settlers' Association, and any other similar organisation to take the initiative in securing the names of likely students, and to communicate with the Department as to the subject preferred, and the conveniences for arranging for courses of lectures in some suitable centre. It is proposed to . make no charge for the services of the experts and officers, and to ask tho local committees merely to defray their own local expenses.
