GOOD PRICES AT PALMERSTON. Messrs. Dalgety and Co.. Ltd., Palmerston North, report having held an exceptionally successful clearing sale at Fitzhcrbcrt, on account of Mr. R. E. Rannister, who has disposed of his property to Messrs. Smith Bros., of Colyton. Despite the very unpleasant weather, there was a very large attendance, buyers being pre-sent-from south as far n$ Otaki, and from' the northern districts, including Ilnwera, Stratford, and Whakatane. Tho sale opened with keen bidding for a collection of implements and high-class poultry, followed by the sale of two up-to-date rubbertyred dogcarts, etc. The horses were then offered, and the highest price filly fell to the bid of a buyer from Melbourne. A start was then made on the pedigree cattle, and, as quotations will show, prices were highly satisfactory, and Mr. Rannister wa-s warmly praised on all hands for the excellent quality and condition of his stock. The Grade Jersey cows, heifers and bulls were eagerly competed for, again showing the strong, demand for cattle showing this strain. The dairy cows offered were a nice line in good order, and tho keen competition for these was another indication of the highly prosperous condition of the dairying industry throughout the North Island. Quotationsi-Gradc Jersey yearling heifers, £3 55., £3 10s., £4, £4 10s., .€4 165., £5 10s., £6 55., £6 155., to .€7; Grade Jersey yearling bulls, 33, 4i, to 5 guineas; dairy cows, £7 to £11 10s.; grade springing heifers, £8, £9, £9 10s., £11 10s., £!3, £13 IDs., £14, to 18; Grade Jersey cows, £12 10b. to £20; pedigree yearling heifers, 16, 25, 26, 27, to 37 guineas; pedigree trows, 25, 26, 33, 35, 38, to 40 guineas; pedigree bulls, 23 to 35 guineas; horses, light, £8 lCs. to £11; .draught, £14 10s., £17 10s., to £29 10s.; dogcarts, £25 to £30, A largo quantity of implements, harness, sundries, etc., realised full market rates. Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report:— At our Palmerston sale, on Wednesday, only a smalt entry of stock oame forward, this being owing to the winter show. All lots, however, met with a- ready salo. Aged ewes, 4s. 10d.; mixed ago breeding ewes, to lis.; wcaner heifer?, £2 9s. 6d.; forward empty cows, £4 3s. 6d.; rough u-year-old steers, £5 95.; forward bullocks, to £7 15s. Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report as follows:—At our salo at Palmerston North, on Thursday, we had a very lavge yarding of sheep, which met with keen competition, and we were able to quit every, pen at prices satisfactory to vendors. We quoter--Sheep: Two-tooth ewes, in lamb, 16s. lid. to 17s. Bd.; mixed aged ewes, in lamb, lis. fid. to 135.; four and live-year ewcp, in lamb, 9s. 2d. to 13s. lid.; ewo lambs, lis. 4d.; wether lambs, 9s. Bd. to 9s. 9d.: mixed lambs, 9s. 2d.; forward halfbt'cd Shropshire lambs, 9s. to 9s. Id.; light fat wethers, 15s. lid.; fat and forward 125.; empty cull ewes, 55.; cull lambs, ss. 2d. to ss. 4d. Cattle: Three-year bullocks, £5 13s. fid.; empty cows, £3 ss. to £3 7s. 6ct.; fat heifers, £5 10s. to £6 17s. 6d.; springing cows. £7. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantilo Agency Company reportAt Palmerston, on Thursday, we had a fair entry of sheep and c-atile. and bad a total cle-arance of cattle at late rafe,s. We quote:—Sheep: Low-conditioned breeding ewes. 9s. 3d. Cattle: Small wcaners, 225. 6d. to 305.; forward heifers, £3 IBs.; frtore cows. £3 10s.; forward cows, £4 Is. to £4 75.; fat cows, £6 55.; cows, in calf. £2 ss. to £3; threeyear steers, £6 f.s. 6d.; heifers, in calf, £5 7s. 6d.; springing cows, £7; bulls, £4.
