HARBOUR BOARD.

ORDINARY MEETING. The monthly meeting of tho Wellington Harbour Board was held last night, having been brought forward from next Wednesday on account of tho anticipated landing of tho now Governor of the Dominion on that day. Tho members present were: Mr. It. Fletcher (chairman), tho.Hon. T. Kennedy Macdonald, M.L.C., Messrs. T. M. Wilford, M.P., C. W. Jones, J. W. M'Ewan, J. G. Harkness, M. Cohen, H. C. Towsley, and W. T. HildiotU. Finance. The following balances at tho bank were reported:—Current account, £20,OOii os. 3d.; imprest account, £957 llis. 2d.; on fixed deposit, £71,100. Payments as follows were approved: —Accounts and wages, £13,671 10s. od.; progress payments on contracts,' £9(JG2 lis. od.; salaries for June, £717 7s. 4d.; total, £23,181 12s. 2d. Chairman's Report. The chairman reported that Messrs. A. H. Miles and W. 51. Hannay had consented to act ■as tho board's assessors in regard to Compensation Court claims regarding lands acquired by tho board at Miramar under tho Public Works Act; that tho Governor-in-Council had approved of plans for boat skids at Karaka Bay for Mr. W. J. Williams; that the 'Evans Bay lteclamation Committee, having approved of the agreements with the Wellington Patent Slip Company, Ltd., regarding Mined area and consent to reclamation, the seal of the board had been aflixod to the documents as authorised by tho board at tho meeting of May 25; that the Clyde Quay Wharf is now completed, and will bo available for traffic as booh as tho road approach, now being formed by the corporation, is finished. Tenders. Tho chairman also reported that tho tender of Messrs. Cable and Co. for the supply and delivery of a hydraulic wool-press for the sum of £775 had been accepted, with Messrs. W. G. Duthie and T. C. Jenkins as sureties. Tho board in committee received two tenders for the supply of hardwood and resolved to accept tho lower, if in order. Ten tenders for the annual supply of uniforms were considered in committee, and referred to tho chairman and secretary with power to act, after consultation with the representatives of tho employees.
