The floods in Switzerland aro described as a national disaster. A landslide has blocked' the St. Gothurd tunnel. Tlie Rhino has risen fifteen feet, and has inundated Basle. Crops and vines are everywhere submerged. A mother and eleven children wero drowned at Altdorp. Tho husband, with two children, was saved. Steamers on the Lako of Lucerne are unable to reach the submerged landingstages. Tho prospects for the harvest jn the Balkans aro seriously endangered by the floods.
