NOT NEEDING PROTECTION. WHY AMERICAN PRODUCTION IS GREATER. ; By Telegraph-Press Association-Copyright. London, Juno 16. Sir Hugh Bell, the well-known ironmonger and coliiery-owner, managing director of Bell Bros., Ltd., and director of other big companies, speakihg at a Free-trade Union meeting, said tho production of iron and steel companies in tho United States had grbwn at' a greater rate than that of Great Britain solely because tho United States had immense stores of iron ores, whilst Britain's were practically exhausted. Sir Hugh quoted statistics to show that the iron trade had not suffered through the absence of protection.
