ENGLISH GAME CLUB.
At the second annual meeting of the New Zealand Old English Game Club, presided over by Mr. C. J. Monro, a report was presented stating that last year the committee had made great efforts to popularise the old English game fowl, and gavo sittings of eggs to many persons who expressed a desire to become members of the club, and in this year's entries would bo found the names of many novices. In a few years Woodvillo, Folmcrston, Tawora, New Plymouth, and other places would receive entries for O.E.G. classcs, The report also expressed appreciation of the efforts of the president (Mr. Monro) on behalf of the club, and adding that a trophy presented by him now stood to the credit of the club, and it would .be allotted to the'champion bird iu the show, to be won twice in succession, or three times at intervals. Mr. H. A. Shepherd, vice-president of the club, and Mrs. Henry Blundell, were also deserviug of the thanks of the club. Doth had given silver cups—Mr, Shepherd to tho best bird of the opposite sex of the Monro Cup winner (a sccond donation), and Mrs. Ilenry Blundell to the champion O.E. gamo bantam. Last jear trophies were also given by Mrs. S. V. Wearing and Mr. H. Moss (Johnsonvillc). This year the club was giving fivo silver cups, in addition to thoso mentioned abovo. Appreciation was also expressed of tho services of Mr. Agmen Smith, tho instigator of the movement for the formation of tho club, and of Mr. H. G. Vicars, tho honorary treasurer. Tho balance-sheet showed a credit balance of Xi 3s. 6d.- The report and balance-sheet worn adopted. The following officers were elected President, Mr. ■C. J, Monro; vice-presidents, Mrs. Henry • Blundell, Messrs. E. M. Kirkcaldic, H. A. Shepherd, and Agmen Smith, Major Coleman, Wi. Maitland; hon. secretary, Mr. C. Caldwell; hon. treasurer, Mr. H. Vicars; committee, Messrs. Shepherd, Smith, Caldwell, Coleman, and Vicars. The winners of tho club's trophies at tho present' show are;—Monro Cup (champion), W. Coleman; Shepherd Cup, W. Coleman; Blundell Cup (champion bantam), 11. A. Shepherd; silver cup (winner of opposite sex to Blnndell Clip winner), 11. A. Shepherd, who wins outright; best duckwing, best black red, best pile, best spangled, W. Coleman.
