EDUCATION CONFERENCE.
BOARDS AND DEPARTMENT.
It will be recalled that a promise was made by the Hon. G. Fowlds (Minister for Education) some time back that a conference of bodies would be convened at a convenient date. a DOMIN'ION reporter yesterday, Mr. Fowlds stated that it was his intention to call the conference at the beginning of next year. That time of the year was, he said, the usual one tor such conferences to 'be held, as it was the noU suitable for all concerned. - Ho had noticed that the Wanganui Board was trying to arrange _ a conference on its own initiative, but if this were done it would, ho thought, be a mistake. The scope of tho conference whicu ho would call would be to consider an questions in regard to the administrative functions of boards, and the relations between the various boards and the Department.
