A HOME FOR LABOUR.
PROPOSED BUILDING IN THE CITY. . A number of proposals have been made at different times withi the object of gaining a permanent homo iii the city for Labour and these have been considered by tho Trades Council. It is stated tliat tho, matter lias again been revived by an offer from a Wellington citizen to erect a bnilding in central position of the city to the council s own design. Tlio principal condition attached to the offer is that the return 011 the outlay must bo equivalent to 6 per cent. A .purchasing clause is to_ bo included in any agreement drawn up. The offer has been considered by the Wellington Committee of the Trades Council and experts have been engaged to go into the scheme. One report of a ■'satisfactory nature lias been brought forward an<l another is .due, and as far as matters have progressed it is quito possible that a recommendation may be brought down to tho Trades Council beforo iong.
