MISSIONS TO SEAMEN.
The Missions to Seamen Institute was crowded last evening, when ' Captain Johnson (harbourmaster) and Mrs: Johnson provided a delightful entertaiuniem. Mr. James Moore, the missiouer, occupied the chair.- The musical- arrangements _ were in the hands of Miss Graham, who submitted an excellent programme, the following contributing items:—Violin solo, Miss Anderson; song, Miss Brown; song, Mr. Harper; dialogue, Miss and Mr. Graham; song, Miss lilick; recitation, Mr. Beavis; flute solo, Miss Pollock; clug swinging exhibition, Miss Brown. Miss Simpson and Mr. Marsh played the accompaniments.. Several popular choruses were sung, by the audience, awl a. conundrum competition was won by sailors from ships in port. During a short interval the missioncr delivered, an earnest address on the, temperance question. Nineteen men took the pledge. Hearty cheers were, given to the host and hostess and performers, and light refreshments were dispensed at the conclusion of the concert.
