INTERESTS OF AUCTIONEERS.
MEETING HELL-.
A meeting of auctioneers was held ye* terday afternoon to consider amendments to the Auctioneers Act, the Hon. T. K. Macdonald presiding. Representatives of most of the city firms, were present, and also Mr. E. S. Abraham, of PaJmerston North, who represented the auctioneer? of the northern portion of the province. A number of amendments were proposed, similar in the main to those advocated last year. A programme was drawn up, and it was decided to draft a bill and circulate it amongst auctioneers throughout the Dominion as early as possible. Wliea sufficient time has been allowed for the consideration of the draft, representatives from,the principal towni are to be asked to meet in Wellington to form a deputation to wait upon the Government and urge the adoption of the suggested amendments.
The following committee was set up, < with power to add to the number:—Hon. T. K. Macdonald, Messrs. E. S. Abraham, Bannister (Murray, Roberts and Co.), Shalders (Loan and Mercantile), Keeling (Abraham and Williams), Miles (Murray, Roberts, and Co.), Waterhouse (Loan and .Mercantile), Johnson (T. K. Macdonald, Ltd), and H. E. Leighton.
