GELIGNITE AND DETONATORS.
SECRETED IV . CHURCH GROUNDS.
A "find" of gelignite, detonators, and fuse, in the grounds of the Catholic Apostolic Church, Webb Street, is at present occupying tho attention of the police. It appears that when two' officers of the church wore going along the side of the building towards the vestry, their attention was directed towards a square bag lying among some shrubs. On investigating, it was found that the bag contained something like CO plugs of a powerful explosive, ralagnite. Tho police were communicated with, and they removed the explosive and set about trying to find the reason of its presence in the church grounds. Whilst the matter of this "find" was still occupying the attention of those who had been confided in, one of tho church officers found a tin cannister in another part of the grounds. The canister was found to contain detonators used for firing tho explosive, as well as several lengths of fuse. The police theory seems to bo that tho explosive had been stolen and hidden in tho quiet church grounds, until opportunity of removing it arose.
