PETONE BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The regular meeting of the Petone Borough Council was held List night. Present: The Mayor (Mr. J. W. M'Ewa.u), and Councillors Harding, Young, List, James, and Trueman. A petition from 30 residents in tho neighbourhood of the sand liil'te was presented by Councillor List. Tho petitioners asked tho council to consider the question of improving the_rosd neaT the pipe bridge and Greeting pome lamps. They stated that fhoy wore at present obliged to use a portion of the railway line, and as they paid rates they submitted that they were entitled to consideration. 'Die engineer was instructed to report on tho matter in corenwstion with tho estimates. Most of tho business ivas of a formal character, but some interesting matter relating lo borough finances Appears under .another, heading. A parrot which tan talk Welsh has boon discovered at Llangollen.
