UNION MINISTRY AND LANGUAGE ISSUE. NATAL PREMIER'S OBJECTION. By Telegraph—Press Association—Oopyrighl (Itec. May 23, 10.40 p.m.) Cape Town, May 23. General Botha, Premier of the Transvaal, who lias beca commissioned to form the first Ministry of the South African Union, offered seats in tho Cabinet to the Premiers of the other three South African States, Mr. Merriman (Cape Colony), Mr. Fischer (Orango River Colony), and Mr. F. 11. Moor (Natal). The Premier of Natal strongly condemns tho policy on the language-in-schools question pursued by General Hcrtzog (who, as Attorney-General of Orango Kiver Colony, has passed an Education Bill offending British residents, and who has been suggested as AttorneyGeneral in tho Union Cabinet). It is therefore probable that the Premier of i Natal will rcceivo a non-political port- | folio. CONSUMMATION OF THE UNION. Cape Town, May 22. Tho Governor-General of United South Africa, Lord Gladstone, speaking at a meeting at Cape Town, recommended blending, not obliterating, characteristic racial aptitudes and' capacities, thus giving the nation brilliancy and strength. He added: "For the noble consummation of the Union, equal credit and honour are duo to all parties/'
