REIKORANCI SCHOOL.
Sir, —Allow me, through your valuable paper, to protest against the
.reatment meted out to the Jieilio•augi residents by the Education iJoarcl
with regard to the enlargement of the school. Some twelve months ago I saw through your paper where it was intended to remove the old schoolhouso at Waikanae to Reikorangi (as the present "Reiki" schoolroom is too small), which would cost about £70. However, it has not been done, and the attendance is on the rise, and the teachers must be handicapped to a certain amount as the room is not a large one. Now, Sir, to erect a room is not going to be a- very great expense, as thero are thousands of feet or timbor within a • few chains of the school, and would be far cheaper in the long run than to bring the old, worn-out schoolroom from Waikanae. It will, be only a third-class place when erectcd. It is to bo hoped that tko present school committee will urge the bogrd to get the increased accommodation. Now the winter is coming on, and the cold days are here, the little children have no fireplace in their curtained apartment, therefore no fire. In conclusion, I may odd that the present schoolroom is very nearly as draughty as the destructor's furnace. Anybody who has gone to a meeting at the school can verify my statement. It would do tile members of .the board good to hold their meetings one night there, and they would have enough fresh air to last them a lifetime. —I am, etc., A PARENT.
