At a convention, in Belfast, of the Irish League, in the absonce of . the Nationalist leader (Mr. John Redmond), Mr. T. P. O'Connor, Nationalist M.P. for Scotland division, of Liverpool, paid a tribute to King Edward, but no resolution was passed. Mr. William O'Brien, leader of the Independent Nationalists, speaking at Skibbereen, County Cork, also paid a warm tribute to the memory of the dead monarch. Mr. T. P. O'Connor, in an article in nis weekly nowspaper, says ho is unable to see the basis of a compromise on political questions now at stake. The "Daily Nows" (Liberal) protests against Unionist attempts to extract party advantage' from King Edward's death and gain time for the Lords. It adds:—
