COMMITTEE MEETING. ' When the stewards of tho .Wellington Racing Club met yesterday afternoon a resolution was passed expressing deep regret for the death of his Majesty' tho . King.. . 'Tlie programme for tho winter meriting was discussed, and after duo consideration it was decided that the stakes'should be.reduced by 10 por cent.'on'last year's figures,, the reduction to affect'each race on 'the' three days. ' Otherwiso the programme will bo the same as .'at the last winter fixture. In regard to the dates of next season's fixtures it was resolved the time has .arrived when the Wellington Racing Club should mako ail,effort to securo holiday dates for its raco meetings. Following oil this resolution it was dccidod to instruct' the Otalri Maori Racing Club to select another date for its spring meeting of 1910. The' metropolitan body declined to approve of tho Otaki Club racing oh Labour .Day, as this date will bo applied for as one of the, days of , the Wellington . At a meeting of tho stewards .of the Ashburton County Racing Club , this morning, it was decided, on account of tho death of King Edward VII, to postpone the races for one week and hold them on' May 19 and 20. .
