A gold medal will be presented to Commander Peary, and a replica to Captain Bartlctt, who commanded the Roosevelt on Peary's last Polar trip, and who will lead tho'Atncrican South pjlor expedition. HISTORIC SCENE. PRESENTATION CEREMONY. (Rec. May 6, 0.40 turn.) London, May 5. Commander Peary lectured in the Albert Hall to' a gathering of 10,000, including many Admirals and travellers. Magnificent photographs, illustrating geographical features, the Eskimos, the pack ice, transportation difficulties, and the United States nag surmounting a mound of snow and ice, representing the North Pole—the Eskimos with uplifted arms cheering Peary—were greeted with salvos of applause.

Major Darwin, in presenting the medal (which the wife of Captain Soott, the Antarctic explorer, designed and modelled), paid a high tribute to Commander Peary. Sir Geo. Nares, Admiral Sir Lewia Beaumont, and Captain Scott cordially supported.
