HARRIERS.

Favoured with ideal. weather, the usual weekly run of- the Wellington Harriers on Saturday was a very successful one. The club • were the guests of Mr. H. Lamb, and ran from his residence in Coromandcl Street. The trail led over the hill to Kilbirnie, through Haitaitai, round the hiils to the pilot station, and home along the ridges, .and was laid by Messrs. H. Lamb and C. Iteid. A pack of 26, runners was led bj .AY. Bennett as pacemaker, with W. Press as whipper in, while a fast pack, controlled by F. Wilton, overhauled the others after about two miles had been covered. The novices again showed good staying powers, and are fast getting into form. The run in was over about 'WO yards, which wai much more lengthy than usual, and the large pack of nearly 30 runners made a fine sight as they raced for the finishing-post, A. Muir (40yds.) winning from R. E. Bust (scratch) by about five yards, with F. Tinney (30yds.) very close'up , third.' All the runners finished very near to the placed men. Aiter the ran the members sat down to afternoon tea, which the host and hostess had thoughtfully provided. .Tho olub's president (Mr. Bennett) presided, and thanked Mr. and Mrs. Lamb for their kindness on behalf of the club, and three chews' were given for T.hem and their family. An enjoyable programme of music was then gone through. Messrs. Tinney, Lamberg, Muir, M'Nee, Morris, and Salek .contributed songs, while Mrs. P. and Miss Lamb, and Miss Bertrand rendered pianoforte solos. Mr. Currie gave h humorous monologue,, while Mr. B. Hilliker lent valued assistance with the accompaniments. Nest Saturday's run will be from Worser Bay, when entries close' for the novice handicap, to be held,at Hutt Park on' May 21.

The usual Saturday run of the Brooklyn Harriers was held from Wyatt's tearooms, Worser Bay. Tho bags were carried by L. Pearce and T. Coventry, who led a trail over the hill to Miramar Park up the spur to Evans Bay, through the cutting, across the old football fields to the golf-shed, from there up the ridge to the flagstaff, down into Breaker Bay, and then along the Seatoun Road back to the starting point. A run-in was held over the last 200 yards,: and resulted in a win for the lirait-man, J. Chapman, with a couple of yards to spare from T. Barnes and E. Shaw close up, third. Nest Saturday's.run will be held from Karori tea-rooiris at 3 p.m.' sharp, when the paper will be laid by G. Murray and P. Wilton.
