. $ ANOTHER FIRE. TEN-BOOMED HOUSE BTJKNT. (By Teleeraph.—SDecial CorresDondonl.l Palmerston, April 18. There was a great crowd in the Sil. Court to-day when the caws against F. A. MTUinn were called on, but it quickly dispersed when these were adjourned for a^week. A quarrel between two local milkmen was ventilated in the SJJ. Court this morning, one applying to have the other bound over to keep the peace. The Benoh, however, did not appear to think there was anything about the quarrel calling for such a course, as the case was dismissed, each party to pay his own coste. Mr. J. D. E. Hewitt, of Palmerston, made &n attempt this morning at four o'clock (with the aid of the telescope at the observatory in the Square) to locate Halley's comet, but failed to find the visitor. ''■Still another fire occurred in Palmersten this morning at 6.30 o'clock, a tenToomed residence in Kuahine Street being destroyed. Both firebelle rang alarms, and the brigade turned ont, but could do little good, as the only water available was from, a one-inch pipe which serves this street, and the fire had to.be left to burn itself out. ■ The origin of the fire is a mystery, as no one had been in the house since five o'clock on the previous evening, when the owner (Mr. G. Walther) went there to feed his fowls. It appears that Mr. Walther had built another house in Eoy Street,; and was removing a quantity of furniture to the new residence where he is living, but there was a good deal left in the burnt building, and very lTffle was saved. The honse was insured for i>soo, the outbuildings, which were saved, for .£25, the furniture for .£l5O, and the piano for .£SO, all in the South British office.
