BOYS' INSTITUTE.
I : ANNUAL MEETING. 1 The annual meeting of the Wellington Boys' Institute was held in the .insti.tuterooms last evening, Sir Robert Stout presiding. The annual report, which has•; already appeared in The Dominion, was referred.to as an indication of. the scope of the work that was being done, and the enthusiasm which lay behind it, 1 the chairman offering 'his congratulations to those who so unselfishly give' up their time and leisure for the betterment, of the boys: of Wellington. The adoption of the report was moved by Mr. G. F. C. Campbell, and was'seconded by Mr. C. Callis. .•;• The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr. Geo. Troup; hon. vice-presidents, Mrs. S.. A. Rhodes, Mr. Justice Cooper, Messrs. Fisher,. Herdr man, MTJaren, and Wright, M.P.'s;vice-' presidents," Messrs. M. B. Menelans, C/S. Moore; and Dr. MTJaurin; hon. treasurer, Mr. Geo. Hutchison; hon. secretary. Mr. D. Patterson; hon. auditor, Mr. R. Wil- , berfoss; hon. physician, Dr. Hogg; committee; Messrs. J. Hislop,. D. Menziea, F. A.;de la Mare, R. Y; Walls, and R. Pearson. .. ■ ■ ..''.' A special vote of thanks was passed to Messrs.' Grey and Jackson, solicitors, for their efforts in securing for the institute the .£llOO compensation for the old institute building and site (now covered by the tramways power-house). Votes of thanks were passed to Sir Robert Stout for presiding, the president (Mr. Troup), the old committee and instructors, and the press. A special tri, bute was paid to all th<)se who worked so well in connection with the garden fete. It was announced that the net gain to the fete was ,£336 6s. Bd., .which money is to bo used in extending the bath (which it is proposed to fit with heating apparatus), and improving the building generally.
