ENTERTAINMENTS.
"PETER PAN." 'Teter Pan" continues to tread the golden path of the inorning of life at the Opera House, making old .people feel young and youngi people yougger. It is good to see the appreciation Mr. Barrie's Itautiful dream play is earning, as every success achieved by a good author in this country means the raising of the standard of the drama; ever so little perhaps, but that little helps. It trains outside managers to a knowledge of what is palatable to New Zealand : playgoers, as distinct from what "goes" in Australia. The acting in "Peter Pan" is of a high order of merit, and is further proof of that truism that even as bad plays make for bad acting (and we know that to be the case) good plays make for good acting. Miss Lizette Partes is a. delightful Peter Pan, Miss Revira a lovable Wendy, and Miss Kitty Mason a charming Michael. Mr. Kingston is capitally in the picture as Captain Hook, and Messrs. Cambourne, Dudley, and Carr are most convincing pirates. There will be a matineo to-morrow afternoon, to commence at 2 p.m. sharp.
THEATRE EOTAL. Excellent vaudeville is being presented to patrons of the -Theatre Royal this "week. Among the star artists engaged by the Messrs. Puller are the "Crottons," men of.muscle, whose feats of strength, as shown "by their weight-lifting performances, are only to be equalled by .their skill as acrobats. Adde'd to these is a company of artists of.entertaining versatility, whose several turns go 'to make up a highly diverting programme of entertainment; HIS'MAJESTY'S.' A large audience again filled His Majesty's Theatre last evening. This week's programme 16 a weir diversified'one, and includes humorous, dramatic, and scenic films. ./'The Heroine of Mafeking" is a thrilling' picture. The picture "Calino Goes Travelling" is a comic film of the grotesque order, introducing some very fine river, waterfall, and seascape scenery. Other pictures which should be seen to be appreciated are "Her Terrible Ordeal, "Coconut Plantations of Singapore," "Foolshead .Preaches Temperance," etc. The pictures will be screened again this evening. ..".'.'■ : KING'S THEATRE.' , The public of Wellington have fairly caught on to picture entertainments, and the King's Theatre was again packed to the doors last evening. The programme contains a judicious blending of scenic, .dramatic, industrial, and humorous items. "The Sins of the Fathers" 'is rvitally interesting story of the Tennessee 'feudists, told witi-ajerve and dash that carry the spectator, irresistibly along to an unexpected and happy finish. There are numerous other interesting pictures, among them being 'ICoconut Plantation in Singapore," "A Marble Quarry," "Sony I- Can't Stop," "The Engandine Peaks," and "Country Servants." The programme will be repeated this evening.
\ STAR. PICTURES. Popular favour has been unmistakably bestowed upon this week's programme of Star Pictures at St. Thomas's Hall, Newtown. "FOB THE TEEM OF HIS NATURAL LIFE." Messrs. Macmahon and CarroD's Mnematographic presentment: of the absorb-> ingly-interestiig tale of early Australia "For The Term of His Natural Life;" has proved a strong draw wherever shown. Zealand tour of this unique pictured drama, owing to the 'exigencies of secur-. ing dates,! commences at Palmerston on Monday next, Feilding. will be visited on Wednesday, Marton .Thursday, and Wanganni on Friday, the Wellington season commencing at the .Opera House on Monday, April'lL In addition to the Eiece de resistance a delightfully diversied series of the latest living picture novelties will constitute the first portion of the programme.
