THE STOLEN "LEADER"
NOT TO BE RANSOMED. A EEWAED OFFERED. The Leader picture, stolen for the second time from the Art Gallery, is still missing. The thief left his finger-prints in the dust of the window, but it. is stated that they may be too indistinct to bo of use against him. The council of the New Zealand Academy, which had charge of the picture for exhibition, held a meeting yesterday afternoon to consider the position. Members were strongly of opinion that no ransom should be agreed to this time on any account, and it was decided to offer a reward for information which will' lead to the detection of the thief and the recovery of the picture. It was also resolved to put bars across the windows of the Art Gallery in order to lessen the possibility, of similar thefts in the future.
