The ninth annual meeting of tho St. James Football Club was held last evening. . Mr. F. Kitto, president, was in tho chair, and there was a large attendance of menjbors. The Pctono 'Borough Council had before it last night a letter in which tho committee of tho' Wellington Rugby Football Union declined to depart from tho stand previously taken up in regard to finals and semi-finals, and 'refused to refer the matter to arbitration. ; It was resolved to refer this matter to the borough solicitor. The union's committee further asked that, in regard to grounds for this season, consideration be given to . its offer of February 18. An early reply was desired, because if no arrangement resulted, the committee would have to look elsewhore. ■ Councillor Jones moved hot to entertain any other proposal as to grounds from the union until-the claim previously alluded to was settled. ■ . ■ i Tho' Mayor skid he was! afraid Petone players would be at a disadvantage if .they had,to go to'the city to play.:, • ! Some b{' : the councillors expressed the opinion that there was no fear of such a consequence. Tho union eould not do .without the Petono ground.. The eighth annual meeting of the Star Football Club was, held at the New Zealander Hotel last, night, Mr. J. F. O'Sullivan presiding. The annual report showed that the club had 'ljad a most successful season, and wero ruuners-up in the championship, Twelve were ylayed during the season, of which _ 7 wero won,. 1 drawn, and t lost, while tho. club' registered 115 points against their tally of 37 points: Several members of the club, gained representative" honours, namely, W. G. Mills, J. Hume, P. :Killcen, H. Hunt,, G. Gosling, and D. Financially the club is well. of!, as tho season'closed with a substantial- credit balance. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. Coles presided, and' there was a largo attendance of mombers. The president, in moving tho adoption of the report and balance-sheet, congratulated the ■ club on its financial position. Mr. W. J. Hardham was elected a life member of .tho club, in recognition of his excellent: services. i It.was decided that a match be arranged between-the East-and. West of Petone, the proceeds to be devoted to the Petone ambulance wagon fund. The following, officers were elected for the ensuing year :—President, Mr. A. Coles; vice : presidents, Drs. A new rule was made under which a non-playing selector is to be appointed to select twenty players (senior), from whicli a captain and vice-cantain shall be appointed, who with the original selector shall b?come the Selebtion Committee'. Mr. J. Lynskoy was unanimously elected to fill the position of selector. It was announced that a team would pay a visit to Nelson at Easter. The clnb will commcnce training next Monday night.
