V.R.C. MEETING.
PEINCE FOOTE "WINS AGAIN. .",< A DEMONSTRATION. By Telceraph—Preßs Association—Copyright (Eec. March 5, 5.30 p.ni.) Flemington, March 5. The last day of the Victoria Eacinjj Club's autumn meeting was tho best pt tho meeting. The fields were good, the racing was splendid, and it was tho biggest attendance of the fixture. Thu weather was dull with threatening rain. Included among tho visitors wero tho Governor-General (Earl Dudley) and party and Sir Thos. Carmichacl and party. Th<i for tho Champion Stakes, three miles, was run 50scc. slower than any previous contest for tho samo event. For the first mile the horses went littlo more than a walk and caused decisive shouts from' tile whole crowd. Tho second time round, the crowd on the Hat fairly yelled for the pace to be increased. After going nine furlongs the pace had been increased to little more than a ennter and the race did not really commence until tho distance, where Prince Foote led b.v
half a length from Pendil. Pendil then raced hard and almost looked like beating Prince Foote, but the lauer got home by a narrow margin. When the horses came in tho crowd in all parts of the .course hooted and it was probably tho greatest demonstration that has . ever taken, place at Fleniiugtoii races. The general impression was that an attempt wus made to beat Prince Footo by converting the event into a mile race. The following aro tho results:— ELMS HANDICAP.
