ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
-COEONEE'S INQUEST.: ■'- A SAD CASE. At the hospital, yesterday afternoon, before Mr. W. G. Eiddell, District Coroner, an inquest .touching' the death of David -Henry Tobin, who attempts suicide by ishooting, himself in the head, with a revolver,, at his residence in Jessie Street, on January 17, was hold. ' , Dr. Kington .'-Fyffe deposed that /death w-as 1 due to-tuberculosis of the lungs and a secondary abscess of tho brain.' Dr. Brown, assistant surgeon.. at • the hospital,, stated-- that ' the deceased had : been, in,:.the»institution;. fori a-fortnight,'-and was discharged, • at his orai' desire; on January' 15. On January 17, at 7.45 Psm., he; was readmitted suffering'from a; bullet wound in -the right temple, l but was quite conscious. The'patient made satisfactory-., progress .until January 26, when 'symptoms of pressure.on the Win : developed,-'and he died, at 2.45 a:m. 'the [ following; day. : ■ Henrietta Tobin, wife .of the deceased,' said that her husband, a wharf labourer, fell, down the'hold of-the Turakina. three years ago, and luul never been well sinco. He had: suffered.' from consumption for' six y«o,rs. . He had recently been' depressed, and, on - the evening of January 17 ho came home, , and went to bed. During- her absence from -;the ; room he shot himself ip- the. head with. a Tevolver. : A .finding, in accordance frith the. medical evidence was' returned. \ ' SUDDEN DEATH. , A man named ,G.Throssell, sixty years of age, . residing at the Lower Hutt, dropped dead in a billiard-saloon at the Hutt last , evening. ■- The deceased,: who . has, it,is understood, no relatives in: New Zealand, was formerly book-keeper in the employ of Mr. Thomas.Burt, of tho Hutt He formerly resided at Hopper Street, Wellington. '
