. . _ +— ;-■■ The thirtyrfiftih. anniversary, concert of the Pioneer Lodge,' No. 11, 1.0. G.T., was held in the New Century Hall last evening, Mr. J. P. Luke. M.P., presiding. The chairman, in a'snort address, made reference to the introduction'of Good Templary into. New Zealand many years ago by Mr. Malins, and proceeded to quote figures to show the expenditure per. capita in drink in Britain, New Zealand, and Continental, countries. This expenditure, £3 : or £4 per head, was. he said, entirely, unproductive, and should be turned to. productive • purposes. > Inj condlusion Mr. Luke congratulated; the Pioneer Lodge on the work it had' done and was still doing. . During the evening musical' items were contributed by Misses Ryan, Rita Green, 'Andrews, Atkinson, B: Bowden. and E. Joyce, Mesdames Collins andßßole,' Messrsfe,'Messrs Caddick, Henderson,. Pegg,' Hobman, Hendry, Egley, Crbmarty, Cqoze'Bros., and Hev, and. Hastens 'W. Bolfo, F. Walsho. arid D. Rblfe.,'. Mr. Boyd.dauced a Highland fling, Messrs.'
