Then wo must get', .tho 'services of a thoroughly experienced" ao» countant as treasurer of our Empire, City, Dr. Nowman, in' his remarks, promised tho ratepayers ho would keep h. sharp look after the treasury to avoid troubles, such as tho abattoirs loan, . which tho ratepayers have not yet got satisfaction about. 'And I hop© when the Government i auditor goes through the accounts he will put. in order, and give it to us straight out from tho shoulder. , We, as ratepayers, I am euro, admire Dr. Newman for the stand, ho Ins taken ro tho loan, and we aro quite con- ■ fident thoro will bo no t .ftittiiy .business whila ho is Mayor.
