A WILL—AND THE WAYS OF THE DEPARTMENT.

Sir,—Can any of your readers inform ona what mysterious aud prolonged process a will has to go through in tho Government Buildings before being proved? I askod tho question, because recently a case has como -. under my notice in which a mil was forwarded to Wellington some three months ago, and has not yet been returned. Jha amount of cash concerned was small, but tho number of people interested iti. its distribution was considerable, and, in several cases, owing to tho lengthy detention of tho will m Wellington, great inconvenience has been caused. In one case, a married man, who has been' out of work for ovor twolvo months, had to refuso an offer of employment owing to tho want of a few pounds which were necessary to enable him. to accept the offor. In another case, also of a msrncd rnan, money had to be raised at a high rate of interest to enable him to pay his way. Both theso misfoi tunes might have been averted had the will been > re» ttfrned in a reasonable time. It seems to mo impossible that such d length of time should bo necessary for whatever process a will has to undergo at tho hands of tho Government Surely, if a private business firm wore so tardy, they, would quicUy have no visiblo weans of support—l am., oto., WORKBK.
