HUTT AND PETONE JOTTINGS.

Endeavours are being made to arrange a match between the Auckland and Wellington players of the Northern Union game of football at' the northern city in about a month's time. Mr. D. G. The amount of fees paid was as follows:— Civil £35, criminal £37 2s. ' The, Rev. J. J. North opened a mission in tha Petone Baptist Church on Monday night, when his address on "Sin" was closely followed by a large congregation. Meetings are being held 'each evening, and on 'Friday night a meeting for men only will be held, when discussion and questions will follow the .address. During the lunch hour visits are 'being paid to the various industrial places. Yesterday a visit was paid to the Wellington ' Woollen Company's works. Today the Railway Workshops will be visited, on Thursday the Gear Company's works, and on' Friday the Woollen Works. - * , At the Petone Police Court yesterday morning, before Messrs. W. Inglis and R. W.- Short, J.P.'s, <a charge of using obscene language in Victoria Street, was preferred 'against Thos. Coles,' who was represented by Mr. W. J. Craijroft-Wilson. Accused pleaded guilty and was fined 205., with 155.. costs, in 'default' seven days"imprisonment.

'A sitting of the Lower Hutt Police Court was held yesterday before Mossrs. J. Cudby and J. ,Wilkins, J.P.'s. A Dano named Peter Neilsen;was sentenced to fourteen days' imprisonment on a charge of theft of an overcoat,;tho property Of a Hutt saddler.
