ST. JOHN'S BIBLE CLASS.

A roll nnmber of ,105, which is the same as last year, and an average attendance which has fallen from 71.33 to 69.15, are shonn by the nnnua) report of St. John's Yonng Men's Bible Class - and Institute Messrs. C. A. Redgiave, and J. S. Butler succeed as leaders, Messrs. G. 'A. Troup/and C. S. Moore, who resigned, and were appointod honorary life members in recognition of their valuable services. Tho library has mcreiisd from '006 books to 1083, and the number issued for circulation this year was 652, as compared with 301 last year. In athletics the class hojds a very satisfactory position, there being 40 members of the tennis club, ■while two teams are entered for Rugby, and two for Association. Tho meeting of the Literary and Debating Society have been much bett-er attended than in former , year 3, and tho speeches havo been of a 'high order. Tho most gratifying feature, however, bas been tho largo- -number of young and now members taking part in the discussions/ results have bean achieved in connection with tho Boys' Institute work. O'.ung to tbp increase in membership, [ the, building fs taxed to its utmost; but' it is hoped that in tho near future tho Institute Committee will be in a position to' arrange for an enlargement of the building. Tho sum of £36 17s, 6d. has been collected by the dais on v bohalf of missions. Oh the spnitual siue, the report states that the highest "aim of the Bible .Class has been fulfilled. The olass meetings during the year have been of a distinctly high character. The papers have, on_ the whole, been very good, and have evinced caroful preparation on the part of the members whose duty it was to introduce the subjects, Duimr tho year some 14 members , joined the church The statement of rpceipts and payments for tho year'shows that there is a balance of £5 11s 3d. in hand, and the sum of £100 has been deposited with tho Wellington Trustee Agency, Ltd., on behalf of the H. Drummond bequest.
