StoweU, the newly-induoted minister for South Wairarapa, wae .welcomed by-.the Moderator and Presbytery ■ Tho Rev. A. Morton-(Wanganui) and. Rev. «• %. W. J. Comrio were . appointed to .attend at Christchurch the meeting'of tho committee Bet up r .'to arrange for the appointment of a successor to the lato Dr.": Diinlop, Professor 'of Tlieology.. The. committee meets .to-day, and Dr. Gibb. and Mr. Comrio left last night for Christclmroli. .; '~ ..-, : . • Tho: oommitteo appointed' 'to consider the application of the Rev. R. }Vilson,, Wesleyan minister at Potone, for admission to,the Presbytomn ministry, submitted a report, and it was agreed to : forward tho application to the General Assembly, with" a strong recommendation that it should be granted.'. • With regard to the orphanage .project, it was .reported: • that', tho ■ committee of the lresbytery was caring, for four orphans at preseut, .and... that; the Brooklyn, , building VrMd be opened thss week, with Mre. Mills, formerly :of the Tory Street , : Mission, as sister-in-charge. >". ..'. ■/. , • ..i ■ Messrs,. Coates and Kelly have missionaries at" Upper Hutt and Eketahuna respectively, /applied for permission to baptise. After, considerable discussion, a committee was appointed to consider tne applications and repbrt. . ' : ■ . ■ -~. , . ; The. EvangelisatTion 'Committee reported' that, tho Rev,, Mr. Allen, missioner, would probably arrive iu Wellington next month, and recommended that ministers of the Presbytery: should make arrangements for him; to bold evangoj[istic services in' their churches: Mr; Allen was formerly minister at (lovan, Scotland,, arid is now holding ovangelistio meetings, and meetings for the' deepening of the spiritual life of Christiaue. The ministers who were appointed to visit tho charges at Masterton and Cartorton reported in most 'favourable terms, ' : ■ The Kov. W. Hemtson, convonor of the it'oreign Mission. Committee, that the. Rev. W. Mawson, of Canton, and the Rev. D. Porteous (who is waiting to take up work in India) had arrived in the Dominion, and were availablo to take services. A resolution was adopted, recommending the Now Century Jj'und Committee to make a loan of £300 towards the. building of a manso at South Wairarapa, A site for the manse has .already been secured. A number of remits from the General Assembly were brought-forward, but as there was no time to go into them at length/.it was decided to hold, a special meeting for their consideration. ■-, ■ '.: ■
