CANTERBURY JOCKEY CLUB'S AUTUMN MEETING.

Tho weather was dull for the conclusion of tho Canterbury Jockey Club's Autumn Mooting, but tho attendance was good, considering that it- was not a general holiday. The racing was very interesting, and the gathering was one of the most successful autumn, meetings held by tho club. Tho totalisator investments amounted to £14,785, an increase--of £2237, whilo bookmakers' fees totalled £384 10s. All the jockeys wore black arm bands as a mark of respect for AV. O'Connoll, who died this morning as the result of injuries received in the Kildaro Hurdles yesterday. The following are tho results:—
PEERSAYICK HURDLE HANDICAP, of 150 sovs. One milo and three-quarters.—Mr. N. Bert-ram's b. k. Southern Grots, by Day-s-tar —Tonga, aged, 9st. 101b. (E.' Redmond), 1; Mr.''H. Friedlander's ch. g. Leonardo, aged, lOst. 61b. (Retter), 2;' Mr. F. Holmes's ch. g. Ability, aged, lOst. 91b. (Mr. J. Selby), 3. Southern Cross took charge turning into tho straight, and won easily by'half a dozen lengths. Ability was four lengths behind Leonardo. Time, 3min. 22sec.

When well into tho straight, Passion had Federal in trouble and Contender and Miss Mischief also ran past him. Miss Mischief finished very strongly, but could reach Passion', who lasted long enough to win by a length and a quarter. Contender was a head away third, with Oivoi and Federal next. At tho mile post Osiris ran past Husbandman,'..and Tikitero and Field Gun then improved' their positions. Rounding tho top turn Husbandman, Osiris, and Tikitero formed tho leading division, whilo Coniform was moving up. At the distance Tikitero had Husbandman beaten, but then Boniform mado his run, and won by a length and a half. Tikitero was a neck in front of Husbandman, who finished a length and n half in advance of Field Gun. Waitapu and Consolation wero next. Flitaway and Xylophone were quickest away, and at tho end of a furlong wore leading Provocation and Nnutiform. Rounding tho top turn, Provocation and Nautiform closed on Xylophone, and Flitaway dropped ■back. With heads turned for homo, Provocation'was in front, but then Taskmaster and Flitaway moved up, and at tho distanco both passed him, Flitaway winning by a neck. Also started: Los Angelos, Bst. 91b.; Gold Thread, Bst. 51b.; Woodhey, Bst. 41b.; Serenade, Bst.; AYhistlucraft, Gst. 91b.; Cerise and Blue, Gst. 71b.; and Montreal, Gst. 71b. Cerise and Blue made the early running, but in the straight Armlet took charge, and won easily by a.length and a half. Ilarita was four lengths away third, and Los Angelos next. 'Time, lmin. 15sec.
FINAL HANDICAP, of 200 sovs. One mile.—Mr. A. M'Cauloy's b. m. Lady Disdain, by The Officer—Oriflamme, 6vrs., Sit. 101b. (R. King), 1; Mr. J. K Hart's b.-g. Chief Lochicl, 4yrs., Bst. 51b. (R. Hatch); 2; Mr. C. Macholl's b. g. Valdimar, 3yrß., 7st. 101b. (J. M'Cluskcv), 3. Also started: Bollin, Bst. 31b.: Dabchick, Bst. 21b.: Ellerton, 6st. 131b.; and Roscommon, 6st. 111b. Valdimar led along the back and round the top turn, but was beaten entering the straight. Lady Disdain then camo through, and, without any difficulty, won by throes lengths, Chief Lochicl beating Valdimar by two lengths for second place. Ellerton was fourth. Time, lmin. 41 3-sscc. ,
