FEILDINC J.C. AUTUMN MEETING. WAIPAKU WINS AGAIN. Cnv TEtEORAPn—SrECIAJ CORKESrONDENT.) Palmerston North, April 13. Tho, Feilding Jockey Club experienced delightful weather for the concluding day's racing, but the attendance wa.s' 1 not nearly bo largo as on Cup Day. Speculation on the totalisator was fairly brisk, the sum of £10,064 being passed through the machino during the day, making a total of £22,167 for tho meeting, which is much below last year's total. In addition to \this tha'monoy received from the bookmakers docs Jiot coraparo with last year's return. Tho going had improved for tho second day's racing, and tho sport was interesting, the concluding event resulting in a very spirited finish. Waipaku put up another attractive performance by winning the principal handicap from start to finish, and another good pcrfprraanco was that registered by Maidi in-the big hurdles. W. Young was again; iu great form -"in tho saddle, and rodo three >winAers during the day. The results a,ie ,as . ' DENBIGH STAKES, of 200 sovs. Six furMr. R. W. Patterson's blk. f. Five -furlongs from home Longner and Eclogue'-were' together in front, and the pair battled out a .great race, Eclogue winning comfortably in the last fifty yards. Probability l wtiß a good third, and Bourrasquo was fourth. nTirrie, lmin. 49 3-ssec. . ON THE RACING. Sandstream was the only withdrawal from the Denbigh Stakes. His leg had .filled slightly,.-hud,his trainer, decided to give him a brief;' spell. Mon Ami, who seemed to have improved with the first day's race, was selected us favourite j and she always had the race in her keeping. Nicotine, who arrived from Hawcra the previous evening, was

looking .well, but her chance was extinguished at tho start, of which sho got all tho worst. Those who had seen Clemora win at the Taranaki Jockey Club's meeting would not hear of hu defeat in the Awahuri Hack AVeltor. Ho had arrived from Hawora tho previous evening with Nicotine and Hydraulic, ■but ho looked none tho worso for the train journey. His jockey kept him a long wayout of it for tho first six furlongs, but as soon as ho was asked to gallop ho responded generously and quickly had the raco won.

Maidi was opposed to some useful hurdlers in tho Kimbolton Hurdles, and as sho had closo on 12st. to carry, sho was only sent out third favourite, Paparaehi and AVhatakura both carrying more money than the roan marc. Paparaehi and Showman made the pace fast, and this served to bring Maidi's staying powers into requisition. She was up with the leaders six furlongs from homo, and then took tho lead. Whatakura was allowed to get within a length of her at tho finish', but this mayjiavo been only on sufferance. At any rate 'the spectators were well pleased with tho winner's performance, and sho was accorded a great ovation on returning to tho enclosure. Master Douglas, who was making his first appearance since he met with an accident at Ellorslie, is not quite in racing condition, and ho finished last-

Rangihaeta was mado a. very hot favourite for the Hack Hurdles, but he had to be content with second position behind Whimper, on whom Young rode a very nico race. Prince Hassan jumped well over the first few hurdles, and so did Montague, a full-brother to Mount Cook. Moose has not yet rogained" his Ashhurst form.

Despite tho f.-.ct that Waipaku had been raised 141b. for her first day's win, she carried far moro money than any of tho other candidates in tlto Easter Handicap. She again set out to make the paco from the start, and succeeded. ill breaking up the field, for, with tuo exception of Golden Gate, none of'her opponents wero able to extend her. Golden Gate raced up to her at tho distance, and had Carroll been flurried Waipaku might liavo been beaten, but tho jockey sat quite still on tho Conqueror marc, and Golden Gato's effort was unavailing. TJhlando did not shape as well as ho did on tho first day, and got into a bad position in tho early part of the race. Tangimonna! showed a littlo improvement on her first day's form, But Tangoroa finished last, and pulled up very distressed. Waipaku gave T. • Carroll his second winning rido at the meeting, and ho supplemented: ltis record by riding Dervish to victory in'the\ next race, and .effecting a big surprise, for the Chasseur gelding was tho absolute, outsider in a field of eight. Nyland, who was favourite, led over tho first fivo furlongs, but he ran himself to a standstill, and just lasted long" enough to carry his big. impost into second place. Sixteen, starters contested tho Maiden Scurry.. Tor which AVaiouru, tho full-brother to Mariouetlo, was installed favourite. He got away fairly well, and when he ran up to the- leaders at the homo bend, his victory was loudly proclaimed, but ho failed to sustain his run, and cquld only finish third. Prevail, a neat bay mare, by Conqueror,- was quickest to begin, and after shaking she' had to resist challenges from ■ Waiouru and Wharekoa, but slio proved equal to tho task, and finished | full of running.

Tho'Makino AA r eltcr was perhaps tho' most exciting raco of the meeting, but thero were really only two horses in it, Longner and Eclogue, and when it came to the business end Eclogue's finishing powers 'proved superior to those of his rival. Ho Was tho third Fcilding horse to win at the meeting, and as ho, started favourite his victory was a very popular one. Tho principal winning owners at tho fixture were: Mr. S. Mcssena, £690; Mr. Hikaka, £233; Mr. R, AA r . Patterson, £200; Mr. L'.' Pascal, £170; Mr; T. O'Neill, £155; Mr. G. A. Fleming, £150; Mr. AA*. J..Shannon, £130; Mr. R. A. M'Donald, £105;-Mr. Higliden, ,£9O; Mrs E, Robinson, £90; Mr. G. 'F.' Moore, £90; Mr. H. K. Alexander, £80; Mr. H. Eva, £75; Mr. E. Jackman, £7Q; Mr. R. Johnson, £70; and Messrs. Bright Bros., £70/ The principcl winning sires wero: Conqueror (Medallion—Siesta), £795; St. Paul (S,t. \Leger—Satanella), £.230; Soult' (St. Simon—Bcauharnais), £200; ■Muskerry (Jilaxim—Flattery), £170; Sylvia Park (St.. Leger-r-Atalanta), £165; Apremont (Mortemer—Auracaria), £150; Handsbmo Jack (St. Legcr—Radiant), £130; Birkenhead (Ormcr-Tragedy), £105; Rangipuhi Mvstery iGirl)', £90 p. and Finland (Bill of Portland—Fishwife), £90.

" The winning jockeys at the meeting were: : AV. Young, six; T. Carroll, three; F. Lind, E. Abbott, O. Price, J. Morris, T. Pritchard, F. Coleman, and O. Scott, one each.

' Sir Frisco and Irahui are being spelled, but J. Lowo is to have three additions to his team at Trentham, as Mr. M. Melrose is having Soprano, Cohort, and a yearling, by Sir Laddo, brought down from Paimerston North this morning.
