FEATHERSTON NEWS.

The chairman of tho Featherston Town Board received a telegram from the Premier, Sir Joseph Ward, stating his intention of visiting Featherston on Friday, April 2, to perform the opening ceremony at the new Post Office. The Town Board mot on Monday to discuss the steps to be taken in connection with the ceremony. There were avery few members present. The chairman, Mr. Card, read tho telegram from the Premier, and the form the ceremony would tako was then discussed. Tho Premier is to arrive by train at 11.50, and has to get away again at about 1.30 to go to llutt. It was decided that tho ceremony should be mado as interesting as possible. The members of the board aro to meet the train at the station and accompany the Premier to the Post Office. The official opening is to tako placo at 12 o'clock, after which members of tho board will accompany Sir Joseph to the Empire Hotel, where lunch will be given. It was decided to invito Mr. W. C. Buchanan, M.P., and Mr J. T. M. Hornsby, who was member when tho Post Office was obtained, to bo present at the ceremony. The town clerk was instructed to write to tho headmaster of the State school and suggest that tho children bo allowed to bo present at the opening ceremony.
