OIL-BORE IN QUEENSLAND.

' GAS IGNITES. (BY IKLBGUArH—I'RESS ASSOCIATION—COPTIUGin.) Brisbane, October 28. Tlie Mineral Oil Company's bore at Roma struck gas, which immediately ignited. The flames, rising to a height of ono hundred feet, destroyed the plant. The roaring of the escaping gas could bo heard miles away. The latest report is to the cffect that oil is now issuing from the bore, but that the flames are increasing, and that the heat is so intense that it is impossible to approach the bore. Attempts will bo made to smother the flame. Roma, on Bungil Creek, 318 miles west-north-west of Brisbane, is chiefly a pastoral district. Soino time ago artesian boring revealed gas of good quality.
