WELLINGTON AUXILIARY. The annual meeting in connection with the London Missionary Society, Wellington Auxiliary, was. held in the Terrace Congregational Church last evening. The Hon. G. Fowlds presided and there was 17s. Bd.j 1903, 45220 195.; 1904, .£2OO a satisfactory attendance. It was reported that ,£3OO Is. 6d. had been collected during the- year. The figures for the six previous years were stated to havo been as follows:—1900, m 45.; 1901, .8131 Ms. 5d.; 1902, .£153 19s. 6d.; and 1905, .£298 IGs. 7d. Tho following wero elected officebeavers :—Chairman, the Rev. J. R. Gkasson. Committee—the Revs. Macdonald Asplund, J. R. Glasson, W. E. Ilott. lion, treasurer, Mr. W. West Knowles. The chairman, in introducing the R«v. Arthur Parker (a representative of the London Missionary Society in India), pointed out that the missionary spirit had preserved the Church in all ages. Compared with the amount spent in drink and profitless pleasure only a small sum was raised annually in New Zealand to assist the missionary cause. The Rev. Mr. Parker gave an interesting account of the work being done by the Society in India. He indicated how deeplv religious wero thousands of the inhabitants of that vast country, and how ho coveted for the Christian Church such devout men and women, rheosophy war„ he said, gathering numbers of converts every year, and he was thankful on that account because they were fighting tooth and nail against materialism and unholy living. Eventually God would, by many converging streams, bring His will to bear m India, flic lecturer referred to the great amount of distress relieved by tho missionaries everv vear, and to the necessity for the establishment of at. least two theological colleges in that country. He then made a strong appeal for larger contributions to the funds of the Society. "Upon the whole Church," he concluded,, and not unon a set of men called missionaries his been laid this great burden. On the motion of the Rev. Mr. Glasson a very hearty vote of thanks was awarded to the Rev. Mr. Parker for his able address, and to Mr. lowlds for presiding-
