Promotions in labour Departmetn
IMPORTANT CHANGES.
At a meeting of the Cabinet yesterday, threo important changes in the staff of the Labour Department were agreed to. Mr. J. Lomas 'has been promoted to the positions of Chief-Inspcctor of Factories, DeputyRegistrar of Industrial • Unions, and Chief Advisory Officer under the Workers' Dwellings Act. Mr. F. Rowley, accountant, has been promoted to the 1 place of Doputy-CMof Inspector of Factories. Mr. J. W. Collins, correspondence clcrk,' has been appointed as accountant and inspector of factories. ■
Other changes which have now been made"aro as follow:—Mr. C. E. Aldridge, Inspector of Awards, has been appointed an Inspector of Factories, for Wellington City in place of Mr. J. B. Lindsay, who has been transferred to Auckland in that capacity. Mr E. A. Lo Cren, of Auckland, will assumo tho position of Inspector of Awards hero. '
A sketeh of Mr. Lonias's caroor was given in The Dominion on Tuesday. Mr;-Rowley, the new DeputyChief Inspector 'of Factories, has been IS years in, the servico of the Department, liavmg acted as accountant' in the Wellington office for a considerable number of years. Mr. J. W. Collins' has given 14 years' work to the Department. He had charge of the Sweated Industries ex hibit at tho recent New Zealand International Exhibition.
