REMOVAL OF SERGEANT CASSELS.
J,iJUiIXV » JXLJ VJL- unil L V/IkJIJUIJkIi To the Editor of the Cromwell Argus. , Sir,— ln your issue of 3rd instant, is inserted a letter signed “M. Fitzgerald,” referring to two letters from this neighbourhood expressing a desire that Sergeant Casaels’ services should be continued in this district.' Mr Pitzge.rahl appears to draw the inference that Mr Cassels’ successor, Mr M ‘Gann, is not treated with fair play. NoW, that most respectable and efficient officer and his friends may rest assured that not the slightest idea of disparagement to Mr M'Gann was implied. The system of itinerancy appears to he an established rule in the Force. However anxious we may be to retain the services of two such efficient officers in their late respective appointments, Mr Fitzgerald may rest assured that any idea of depreciating Mr M'-lann’s ability and services was quite foreign to the writers’ intentions.—l am, Ac.,
